Tubing!

Oh my goodness - what a GREAT night the four of us had tubing!!! Flying down the hill, snow covered faces, yummy poutine in the chalet - all soooo much fun!!!!

Cass was talking a mile a minute with excitement, while Chloe was so in awe that I think she forgot how to talk which is hard for Chloe to do! LOL!!

But I have to say, the most hilarious part was when Jeff and I went down the hill together, flew into the sacks of hay at the bottom of the hill, and heard the hill guard said "Dudes - that was spectacular!!!" Jeff and I laughed sooooo hard, and at that very moment I felt like we were silly sixteen year-olds again!

There is no doubt in my mind that we'll be tubing again!!!

Mom, Mama, Bridget, Bridge, B, Bee - a woman of many pseudonyms!

Who am I? Or, more precisely - what is my name?

Well, that all depends on when we met, or how we know each other!

My Dad, Mom, and sister ALWAYS call me Bridge - unless of course when I was young getting in trouble in which case I got all 3 of my names - First, Middle, and Last!

My Brother always called me Bridge, or Bridgeovich - to this day I have no idea where Bridgeovich came from, but it was his pet name for me, so that made it a-okay in my books!

To my friends from grade school, and high school I am a mix of Bridge, Bridget, B, and Bee - all of which I love, and all of which are used interchangeably!

To my ringette friends I am Bridget, or Bee - the latter more often than the former!

To Jeff I am B or Bee. For years I was just "B", but then (and I'm not sure how) I starting signing off with Bee. :)

To Chloe I am Mama. My heart warms when she says Mama. And it's often the only way I can tell her and Cassidy apart on the phone. If I get I "Hi Mama!" I know I'm talking to Chloe!

To Cass I am Mom. My little lady growing up so fast! I used to be Mommy or Mama, but now I am Mom. But I love it - I change as she changes, I grow as she grows. :)

So, what name do I prefer? Without a doubt, all of the above. Each one of these names (as long as they are said with warmth - LOL!) are who I am. I have evolved over the years, as has my identity, so why not my name(s)?

What do I call myself? Well, as you can tell from the way I sign off each post - I see myself as a "Bee".

I must confess though, I am pretty partial to Mama and Mom - those names I wear with pride!!

How many pseudonyms do you have?

Exhibit A - Lemony Poppyseed Cake

I'll let you in on a little secret (to which my sweet hubby will be fully aware of when he reads this post). I am on a mission to prove to myself (and the aforesaid sweet hubby) that a Kitchenaid mixer - lime green nevertheless - is an utter necessity for my kitchen.

I give you Exhibit A - Lemony Poppyseed Cake:

I happened upon this recipe last Fall, and have been carrying it around with me ever since. I think it is quickly going to be inducted to our family "Hall of Favourite Recipes"!

The recipe:

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
3 eggs
1/2 cup lemon juice
3/4 cups plain yogurt
3 tbsp lemon zest
1/2 cup poppy seeds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 9"x5" loaf pans.

Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time.

Mix lemon juice and yogurt together and add alternately with the sifted flour mixture to the butter mixture. Mix until just blended. Stir in lemon rind and poppy seeds. Pour mixture into prepared pans and smooth tops.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until browned and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on rack for 15 minutes before turning out of pans.

Have a Lemony Day!

Resolutions - 2011

Resolutions are supposed to be made on January 1 right? Well...being the procrastinator that I am (Why on earth would one ever want to be ahead of schedule?) I am finally sitting down to publish my list! By sharing my list with you, I am hoping to be a bit more accountable for those things I resolve to try to do - emphasis on "try"!!

Here goes:

1. be more active - try new activities
2. read much more (and different genres)
3. try to cut down the diet pepsi intake (even if it means more tea intake!)
4. stick closer to our budget (yes Jeff - I will try!!!)
5. knit, knit, knit (okay - didn't really need to put that as a resolution, but I know it's something I'll do even if it's the only resolution I keep!)
6. teach the girls to make a quilt
7. paint the girls bedrooms (giving myself 12 months to get it done - sneaky eh?)
8. do something daring - not sure what yet, but something that gets my adrenaline rushing
9. write handwritten letters - back to basics, good old fashioned mail!
10. and the most important - enjoy every single day with my loved ones. Take nothing for granted!

That's it folks! Wish me luck!

xo,

P.S. What are your resolutions??

Sitting with my tea (cup half full) with my rose-coloured glasses on.

That's me. Love it, or love it! (I'm not giving you the choice to leave it - LOL!) I am a cup half full, rose-coloured glasses sort of person, even during tough times. And trust me, life has dealt me tough times, just like everyone else.

I worry. I worry most of all about my loved ones. After that, my second biggest worry is death.

That, my friends, is why I try to be a chin-up, suck-it-up-buttercup type of person. I am ALWAYS afraid that the last time I say good-bye, or the last hug, or the last conversation with someone could be the last ever. I know, I know - that is way too much stress, but it's the hand I've been dealt, and I deal with it the best I can. You can't stop a worrier from worrying, no matter how hard you try.

Wow - I ramble a lot too! Oh, and people would say that I use FAR too many exclamation marks!!!!

And so, that is why I have (against my better judgement LOL!) started up a new blog! To chronicle the little things in my world that make me smile. The little things that make me happy. The little things that don't mean much to others, but mean the world to me.

I have chosen to share this blog because there is so much negativity in this world. This blog will let you in on my little life, be it as mundane as it is.

I hope you enjoy!

(I know I'm in my own little world. It's ok, they know me here!) :)
